Discover Abruzzo & Marche and a day in Rome

With Chef Walter Potenza at Villa Susanna degli Ulivi

September 29th to October 4th / 2008

Join the undisputed and romantic heart of Italy........Abruzzo, Marche and Lazio

Here it is: a tour to two of Italy's most pristine regions, where local cooking traditions still reflect the area's peasant past and the beauty of the landscape remains much as it was hundreds of years ago. Silvery olive groves 290192alternate with golden wheat fields; stretches of glimmering coastline beckon the eye beyond every curve; plump chilies hang over doorways of white-washed houses; narrow, maze-like streets lead to sandy beaches, quiet churches, solemn castles.304826

Our week-long cooking tour of Abruzzo and Marche will provide you full immersion in Central Italian food culture. We'll stay at a luxury four-star hotel Villa Susanna degli Ulivi in the quaint  village of Colonnella in the province of Teramo. From there we'll take day trips aboard our private bus to Saint Gabriel Sanctuary, Torano Nuovo, Bellante, Teramo,  and even to historic Ascoli and San Benedetto del Tronto along the Adriatic coast in the nearby region of Marche. As we make our way across Central Eastern Italy, we'll enjoy hands-on cooking lessons, wine tasting, traditional country lunches, elegant regional dinners, visits to outdoor markets, and much more, like a visit to my home town Mosciano Sant'Angelo, Middle Age reign of the Aquaviva family who ruled Central and Southern Italy for 189 years. In Mosciano we'll teach the art of making the famous "Libretto", the first torrone ever made with figs, chocolate and almonds.
